About Us
Who We Are
Working as Advancing Health Literacy Franklin County, our team brings together professionals from Franklin County Public Health, Columbus Public Health, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and University of Hawaii to reduce COVID-related health disparities and improve health outcomes among racial and ethnic minorities.
Simply put, our goal is to improve access and the ability to make informed health-related decisions, especially for those who are most impacted by health disparities.

Our Goals
Goal 1
Develop community and health literacy-informed COVID-19 messaging for Franklin County racial and ethnic minorities. Our focus is to improve COVID-19 information access and understanding.
Goal 2
Create and support a sustainable Health Literacy infrastructure for community organizations. We aim to improve COVID-19 health literacy and equity.

How we will make a difference
We will improve health literacy at an organizational level through training, engagement and partnerships which will lead to better health literacy skills for organizations and those they serve.
Access
Our reach will extend to partners throughout all of Franklin County including diverse health and community-based organizations (CBOs) such as public health agencies, community health centers, hospitals, social services, community health workers and others who are serving our community, particularly focused on reaching those who are at a high risk of COVID-19 health disparities.
Use
We will develop, implement, evaluate, and sustain research-based approaches to improve health literacy in Franklin County. Our end goal is to empower partners and those who they serve which will improve access and the ability to make informed health-related decisions.
